The idea
What AI is good at, and what it isn’t
Generative AI is good at turning a list of facts into readable sentences, varying tone and producing drafts quickly. It is not good at knowing facts it wasn’t given: it may confidently invent materials, dimensions or claims.
Google’s guidance says it rewards helpful, reliable content made for people, however it is produced. Descriptions mass-produced without added value don’t meet that bar.
This article is editorial guidance based on published documentation. We haven’t tested these features hands-on and don’t quote industry statistics we can’t trace to a reliable source.
A reliable AI description workflow
Collect the facts first
Materials, dimensions, care, compatibility, what’s in the box, who it’s for. Put them in the prompt or product fields.
Set your voice once
Write a short style note — tone, words to avoid, length — and reuse it for every product.
Generate, then edit
Treat the output as a draft. Remove anything you can’t confirm.
Answer real questions
Add the details customers ask about in emails and reviews — that’s what makes a page useful.
Avoid regulated claims
Don’t let AI add health, safety, environmental or legal claims you can’t back up.
Review regularly
Update descriptions when products, stock or suppliers change.
